I’m a book nerd, I proudly proclaim it. And around the first of the year I found Immediate Obedience: The Adventure of Tuning in to God by Rod Loy on Netgalley, and I was immediately called to it. I struggle with obedience (don’t we all?) because I can explain my way out of anything in my mind. But I also struggle with reading Christian books because they all seem a bit hokey to me. Luckily? This one was not that way!
I think part of my lack of obedience (or at least my mental ability to explain it away) is that I never fully grasped what people meant when they would say that God told them to do something. (The past few years have been quite the journey for me in that area, and this book really helped me grasp this!) The examples in Rod Loy’s book are pretty fantastic, there are many examples that other people shared of how they heard God’s voice and then followed his command.
It’s been quite awhile since I read a book that had me really searching myself and left me inspired to take on a challenge like this one has! I’m only a few weeks into my journey, but I can tell you that this book has been eye opening for me.
**I received a copy of this book to read in exchange for a fair and honest review from Netgalley.**
