We have donut fever at our house! A few weeks ago we got a Wilton Nonstick Donut Pan and made Pumpkin Spice Donuts! Since then? We have made at least two donut recipes a week, and today while we were at the grocery store Scribber decided she wanted chocolate donuts. I had a coupon for some cake mix, so I though it’d be fun to try and make them with a box mix… So I grabbed two boxes and then baked 24 donuts – each batch with a slightly different recipe to figure out what works best! And my last batch was easily the best!
Some of my mishaps? Too moist and falling apart. Too dry and needing to be dunked in milk or frosting! But this last batch? They were absolutely perfect! So I’m going to share my recipe with you for a fun afternoon snack!
- 1 box of cake mix
- 2 large eggs
- 1 stick melted butter
- 1 cup milk
- 2 Tbsp Flour
- Preheat Oven to 350
- Mix all ingredients together (make sure to get out all the lumps!)
- Pour Batter into gallon ziplock bag, cut a small corner from the bag to pipe into your donut pan!
- Fill each donut space 2/3 full of batter (if you fill it too full, it will end up being more muffin like without the hole!)
- Bake 13-15 minutes!
My super secret donut tip? Make sure you are using a piping bag for your donuts! And don’t fill the pan more than 2/3 full! (They will puff up a lot in the oven, and you want donuts, not muffins!)
