It’s no secret that I’m a HUGE Planner Addict! (Just a quick search of my blog proves that one!) In the past I’ve been a huge fan of the Erin Condren Life Planner, but recently I’ve made the jump to Traveler’s Notebooks! And recently while
spending hours watching planner videos on YouTube… err… surfing #PlannerAddict on Instagram… err… looking at Planner Tips on Pinterest, I found #OneBookJuly.
One Book July is the brain child of Rhomany, a popular planner addict on YouTube. The whole idea of #OneBookJuly is to simplify your planner craziness for one month. Just one month! You put away the stickers, the huge pencil bag of pens (that I may or may not carry in my purse) and the
15 5 notebooks you carry with you at all times.
(I don’t have a problem. I swear. Maybe.)
It’s simple. You pick one book. One Pen. That’s it. For the whole month.
Which I’m sure to normal people? That doesn’t sound like that’d be difficult. But to give an example of the craziness? Let me give you a rundown of what’s in my purse right now. (No judging!)
- Unicorn FoxyDori — with the following inserts: Month at a glance planner, Week at a glance planner, Credit Card insert, Zipper Pouch, Book Journal, Lists Journal — That’s SIX inserts!
- Cakepaperie Cakedori — My prayer Journal
- Brain Dump Book
- Life Group Notebook — This one isn’t ALWAYS in my purse, I just happen to be working on a study right now and needed it for notes this afternoon. So I’d say about 1/4 of the time I carry it!
- Lists Journal — Six months of lists project for 101 in 1001!
- 10 pack of Steadtlers
- 12 Erin Condren Pens — (I have both sets, the fleur feliz and the party pops!)
- 3 Pens – Just floating in the bottom of my purse
- 1 Highlighter – also floating free
So that’s 10 notebooks in my purse. TEN. (And 26 writing utensils!) That’s ridiculous.
So, for July? I’m going down to one Traveler’s notebook. (The above photographed Foxy Fix DragonFruit Regular with Extra Room.) I have two notebooks in it. One lined, one graph paper. (So that’s a serious cutback!) And one black pen. (If that pen should run out of ink, I’ll replace it with another.)
I will also keep my Zipper Pouch in my TN for this experiment. I often need a place to store post-it’s, receipts and other random little slips of paper for my job, so I’ll need this – but I vow to clean it out as often as possible!
I’ve been wanting to give my hand a go at a Bullet Journal for quite awhile, but I’ve had so many other “Great” things to do with my planners, that I haven’t bothered to make the switch before now. So for July? I’ll give it a try! I’ve already set up my “Month of July” page (above) as well as August and a few other pages that I’ll need! (Perhaps a bullet journal blog is coming up?)
In the lined notebook? I plan on using it more like my Brain Dump journal. A catch all for EVERYTHING. I’ll need to take notes at work, shopping lists, prayer requests, my bookish notes. Everything I currently keep across 10 different notebooks will be condensed into one.
I’m a bit nervous about this project. Most specifically, can I use the same pen?? (I don’t have a pen loop currently on my Traveler’s Notebook, so I’m afraid I’ll lose the one I have! I suppose in that case? I’ll just replace it with another with plain black ink.)
